COVID-19 Announcement

We remain open for business as an essential service to provide medical care, prescription refills, and special diet orders. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday to 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, subject to change without notice. We will still be closed from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday to take care of any urgent surgical needs.

Our level of patient care is extended to medically necessary visits only. We are postponing any routine wellness adult examinations, healthy pet visits, and adult dog and cat vaccinations that are not required by law. We are happy to see puppies and kittens for first examinations and vaccine series, newly adopted pets, boosters for rabies vaccines and other vaccines required for doggy daycare. If you are unsure if your pet needs care, please call us to discuss it.

Here are our precautionary measures:

  • We will require you to wear a face-covering during our interactions. This is mandated by the San Diego County Health Order effective May 1, 2020. Please maintain a 6-foot distance when possible.

  • You ask you to remain in your vehicle and call us to discuss your pet when you arrive. We will take dogs on our hospital leash as a handoff. Cats and small dogs in carriers can be placed in carriers outside of your vehicle. We are not reaching into your vehicle for our safety and yours. Please do not let your dog off-leash or remove any leash before your dog is secure. This is for your dog's safety and ours. We may ask you to walk your dog to the sidewalk area for transfer.

  • If you become ill, please call and reschedule your appointment or have another trusted, healthy person bring your pet in for care.

  • We ask that all clients bring a mobile telephone with you and remain in your vehicle with your pet(s) unless otherwise directed. Give us a call at 858-277-3665 when you arrive. A veterinary assistant will come out to your vehicle and retrieve your pet(s) to provide services at their designated appointment time. Please do not leave the parking lot. Our doctor will call after examination to discuss your pet's care options. We will bring them back to you and initiate payment as convenient to you.

  • Please leave your children safe at home with an adult unless no other option is available.

  • Please call ahead and prepay for any medication or food refills so we can have them ready for pick up. When you arrive, please call us and we will bring your items to a designated location outside our door for you to retrieve them after we are back inside the building.

Please consider using our online store for home delivery.

We are receiving a heavy volume telephone calls so please leave us a voicemail to get back to you. Please consider appointment requests and refills through Petly and adding your cell phone as a means to reach you by text message. You can Opt-in for text messages under My Preferences sections. Petly website: https://www.petly.com/

As the weather heats up, consider running your air conditioning in your car or bring water for your pet to drink. We cannot always bring them into the hospital right away. Please do not walk dogs to the hospital on hot days. We want to avoid overheated pets.

We will continue to provide the care and attention your pet needs for as long as possible. This is a rapidly changing situation, and we will try to maintain open communication with you. Please be patient with us as we work through the best way to care for your pets.

Thank you for your understanding.
